Three Reasons Avocados Are Awesome

1. Vitamins and Minerals in Avocados

When it comes to superfoods, avocados are a watersport and fitness enthusiast’s best friend. We’re going to tell you the top three reasons avocados are awesome.

With so many vitamins and minerals in every bite, it’s almost a shame not to eat them. Bananas are famous for containing 10% potassium yet an avocado beats that with 14%. Not only that, an avocado provides 23% of your daily folate intake. Folate is good for you because it can lower your risk of heart disease. Lovingly referred to as nature’s butter, avocados are also rich in Vitamin E and monounsaturated fats that also reduce the chances of having a stroke. Other vitamins and minerals found in avocados include Vitamin B1, Vitamin B2, Vitamin B3, Vitamin B5, Vitamin B6, Vitamin B9, Vitamin E, Vitamin K, Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Manganese, Phosphorus, Sodium, and Zinc.

2. Avocados go great with anything

An avocado’s creamy texture pairs well with any food and they shine as the spotlight of a dish. Caribbean folks enjoy avocado alongside almost any meal, but especially hot soup. In North America, millennials can’t afford to buy homes due to their obsession with avocado toast. Mexico gifted the world with guacamole. And Africa is a major exporter of avocados to the rest of the world due to such high demand. It’s no mystery why you can eat avocado on any food, in any dish. It can be made sweet or savory, pairs with hot, cold, or spicy. It’s worth mentioning that avocados are high in fiber which helps metabolic health by keeping you feeling fuller for longer and steadies blood sugar. It’s a treat that literally makes your meal healthier.

3. Avocado’s help protect you from the sun

Have you heard of Lycopene, Beta Carotene or Carotenoid Lutein? These are antioxidants in fruits and vegetables that are red, yellow, and orange. They come packed with lots of health benefits. For example, foods with carotenoids help prevent macular degeneration (vision loss) and protect against sunburn. People love Platinum Sun because our gear is designed to protect you from the sun and we love avocados because they help too! Eating avocados helps your body absorb five times the amount of carotenoids in your food. This is due to its high-fat content which helps your body break down the good stuff. In short, if you’re eating anything yellow, red, or orange, it’s going to be extra beneficial with some buttery avocado.

We love “Nature’s butter” for more reasons than being super healthy and tasting great with everything. Like our leggings and rashguards, avocados protect us from the sun which is why we ultimately believe avocados are awesome!

We would love to know your favorite way to eat avocados. So leave us a little recipe in the comments below.
