We asked kiters just like YOU about their biggest ‘kitemare’ stories and here are just some of them! 1. Insanely Large Travel […]

Covering more than 70% of the Earth’s surface, the oceans are immense, but they are not invulnerable. Pollution is a very real problem that can have a crippling effect on marine ecosystems and the humans who depend on them. How big is the problem? Plastics, chemicals and other trash combine with noise and light pollution, […]

Point breaks occur when the shoreline extends out to the sea creating a headland. As the wave hits this headland, it begins to peel along the shore creating a long, well-formed wave. There is usually only one take off point at these breaks meaning you might have to get in line to wait your turn, but these waves are definitely worth the wait!
Forget shark attacks, snake bites, or bear mauling for a while. A jellyfish may look cute on water but when you are not familiar of its varieties, it may cause some venomous sting when you touch one. And you would wish you hadn’t come near the ocean.

Cape Verde isn’t just a place, I have so many memories there, from learning to kitesurf and windsurf, making friends and even just chilling out on the beach watching professional kitesurfers battle it out at the world class break Ponta Preta. One of my favourite parts of going to Cape Verde is how relaxed everything is, as soon as the sun goes down, everything stops, you go to bed to get up for an early morning kitesurf or go to a party, if you know the right people that is ;).
I wear rash guards more than I even wear shoes. Most of mine have been freebies from various events that I have participated in. I am in the water about 300 days per year (seriously). That being said, 5 months might as well be a lifetime.
With 2014 behind us, it’s time to look ahead to prepare for what 2015 has in store for the world of surfing.
Sal in Cape Verde is probably a kiteboarders’s dream spot: golden sandy beaches, blue skies, warm crystal clear water, 20 knot trade winds all day every day, and the local break Ponta Preta, training ground to the likes of world champions Mitu Monteiro and Airton Cozzolino. Since my love for the ocean has never stopped growing, I can now Windsurf, Kiteboard, Surf, Body board, Scuba Dive, Paddleboard, Free dive, water ski and wakeboard, and enjoy them all loads, even though sometimes I spend more time in the water than I do on the actual board!
